The Summary of 20072007 is the year that has brought a lot of things in my life..I guess I could say that this is the year that changed my outlook in life itself.
what a year 2007 has been for me. what a year, i tell you.
Here I am, the new girl in town. I woke up each morning, trying to make the most out of my stay here in America. Back then, I told my mom that I will go back to the Philippines as soon as possible..but then after a couple of months, I started to get used to this place. In fact, I have learn to love this place..so inlove that I could almost call it my own
home.
This chapter of my life was never easy. I left my past behind for the hopes of better future. I said goodbye to my best friends without the assurance of finding new ones. So I put this wall..the wall that protects me for being hurt. I distance myself away from people because I don't want to get hurt again - I don't want to be attach to people and just say goodbye to them in the end of the day. But then I realized that God has a bigger plans for me and that I should not dwell on the things that are impracticable. I guess God somehow reach out for me - I have been engage on different church activities and by doing that, I also met new friends. I started to get my life back again and it seems as if the sun shines brighter again. Right then and there, everything falls into place. I took the SAT and lucky enough to get a
promising score to be accepted in CSU. I went to Taggart's Driving School to learn how to drive and now, I already got my license. I'm working to have my extra money. And most importantly, I'm still and will always be serving God to the best of my ability.
Right now, I'm still facing all the challenges on living in a foreign country. It's not easy living here, you know? It's never easy. I'm just thankful that I am surrounded by wonderful people - for without those people, my life is nothing but a hollow box. There are times when things happen to me at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection I realize that without overcoming those obstacles I would never realize my potential, strength, will power and heart. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of luck. Illness, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of my soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless. The successes and downfalls that I have experienced have mold me to who I am now. I have learned that the bad experiences can be learned from, and in fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.
My Church LifeI have met Fr. Lucas. One of the most special person I will meet in my life. He is my inspiration. I have learned a lot of things from him and I will never ever forget the chapter of my life when I get a chance to talk to him every week, after our sunday mass. He became an instrument that brought me closer to God and to church.
After he left our congregation, I thought that my religious life would never be the same. But I'm totally wrong. I made a promise to Fr. Lucas that I will still continue to communicate with God in all the ways possible. I signed up for various of activities that I haven't done before. I am so happy to do a lot of things, things that really matter. And the most amazing thing is that I've met a lot of wonderful people along the way.
My Social LifeI love my comrades, my lucky charms, my football buddies, my pals, my gay friends, my sit-down-and-grab-some-coffee mates, my co-procrastinators, my loveless gang, my AFF cubs. They have thought me valuable lessons in life. I discovered a lot of things about myself just by hanging out with them. And until this day, I still can't believe that I am capable to do things that I haven't done before. I am thankful that God blessed me with friends that has been so great to me. Friends that made me look forward to wake up each morning with a smile on my face. Funny how sometimes, people came into my life and I knew right away that they were meant to be there...to serve some sort of purpose, teach me a lesson or help me figure out who I am and who I want to become. I may never know who these people may be but I look at their eyes and I knew right at that very moment that they will affect my life in some profound way.
without these two essential parts of my life, i am nothing..or most probably worst than that. I am much wiser now..more responsible than ever. Funny how a year, just one year, has changed my life.My 2008 PromiseI promise to make every day count. Appreciate everything that I possibly can, for I may never experience it again. If someone hurts me, betrays me or breaks my heart...I will forgive them because they have helped me learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom I open my heart. If someone loves me, I will love them back unconditionally, not only because they love me, but also because they are teaching me to love and open my heart and eyes to little things. I will talk to people whom I have never talked to before, and actually listen. I will let myself fall in love, break free and set my sights high. I will hold my head up because I have every right to. I promise to tell myself that I am a great individual and I will always believe in myself, for if I don't believe in myself, no one else will believe in me. This year, I will create my own life and then go out and live it.
Cheers to the year 2007...thank you for all the memories!Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.
It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.
SMILE...you're with me!
